The beginnings of it all.

So, let me being by introducing myself, my name is Grant and I have recently graduated college in Geography and GIS. My photo is to the left of this entry for those that who like visual connections. I basically had this grand scheme drawn up in my head that I would join the Peace Corp and try to implement any GIS work possible, ideally in Eastern Europe to one day support and better emergency transportation system. Big dreams. As I progressed within my major I gravitated towards bringing this idea stateside and under a bit different light. I've been a supporter of alternative transportation for a few years now whether it be bikes, trains, high speed rails, or buses.  All of this being said, i'm currently in the job market like so many others. I'm planning a move to Denver in hopes that it may bring more chances my way for my goal of alternative transportation planning.

While learning about alternative transportation I built up an interest in sustainability and alternative gardening such as square foot gardens, container gardening, and of course hydroponics. This is where my blog picks up. I have recently begun my endeavor into hydroponics by trying to grow tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and broccoli.  One tomato plant is growing right now while two pepper plants didn't make it for some reason. Probably a bad transplant job on my part.

I am running a DWC/Bubbler setup in a 18 gallon tub as of now, it will be downsized to a 10 gallon tub to use less water and less nutrients. The tomato plant has recently (after 1.5 weeks) taken off quite well with a new leaf being developed daily. It's exciting to see the progress to say the least. I will show progress every few days/every week.

I am new to blogger, so please work with me as I learn the basics.

As you can hopefully see, the middle newest leaves have opened and a couple extras have grown in. Pretty fast growth in my opinion, though I am ready to eat some of my first ever tomatoes!
